Communism
During the 1950s in America many were afraid of communism. The differing ideology was threatening to the capitalistic system of America. Unlike other forms of intolerance, ideological intolerance is not based on apparent physical features, and therefore this type can generate more fear. While members of communist parties or open communists might be easy to identify and monitor, many feared covert and subversive actions from hidden communists.
Watch this YouTube film and consider how communism is identified and portrayed.

What is the purpose of this video?
Does it allow for discussion, consensus building and compromise?
